Month of Thanks Charity Event Sponsored by Van Metre Companies

BURKE, VA /October 7th, 2008

Van Metre Companies is to host their 1st Annual “Month of Thanks” charity event at each Investment Property location. During the month of November, residents and patrons can visit any Van Metre Commercial Shopping Center or Apartment Community and donate items to help our local community.

A donation box will be placed at each Apartment Community leasing office and throughout Broadlands Marketplace and Stone Ridge Village Center. Each week, a different charity is being spotlighted.

Week 1 (November 3rd-9th) - The charity is “Women Giving Back,” which focuses on providing clothing, shoes, and accessories for women and children emerging from the homeless system and re–establishing themselves in homes of their own. They aim to offer women proper clothing for interviewing and working in professional jobs.

Week 2 (November 10th-16th) – The charity is “Operation Turkey,” which collects non-perishable food for the less fortunate.

Week 3 (November 17th-23rd) – The charity is “Friends of Homeless Animals,” which collects new or used items to support local non-profit animal shelters. Items needed include rope slip leads, medical supplies, blankets, towels, cat and dog toys, food, cat litter, etc.

Week 4 (November 24th-30th) – The charity is “Toys for Tots,” which collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distributes them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
